The
recent record-breaking PBS-TV music specials, “50 Years of Doo-Wop”
were so well received that it created a new showcase and new audiences
for veteran Doo-Wop artists, resulting in additional PBS-TV specials.
Now these 9 original artists, whose combined sales number over 70
million records, are back on the road performing live, treating
50-something concertgoers to the songs they danced to at sock hops,
while allowing younger audiences to discover that Doo-Wop is feel-good
music no matter what your age. This music is like a first love that no
one ever forgets.
An impressive list of those original artists will be part of The
Ultimate Doo Wop Show, heading to the Orpheum Theatre for one 8 pm
song-filled concert. This stellar "Ultimate Doo-Wop" lineup consists
of: From the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame, Charlie Thomas and The Drifters (On Broadway, There Goes My Baby, Up on the Roof, This Magic Moment), The Contours featuring Sylvester Potts (Do You Love Me, First I Look at the Purse, Shake Sherry), Kathy Young (A Thousand Stars, Honest I Do), The Eldorados (Crazy Little Mama, Bim Bam Boom), The Reflections (Just Llike Romeo & Juliet), The Volumes (I Love You), The Shades of Blue (Oh How Happy), The Magnificents (Up On a Mountain, Caddy Bo), and Rama Lama Big Band (Harlem Nocturne).
