The release of our ten Negro Spirituals Oral History DVDs, In Our Own Words…, each featuring an interview with a Negro Spirituals Heritage Keeper’s recounting of his/her memories of learning about the irreplaceable, slavery-born Negro Spirituals and ways s/he has been keeping them alive in Oakland. The DVDs, Oakland’s first, will be released to Mills College Library, Oakland Main Library’s History Room, and the African American Museum and Library in Oakland where they will be available to the public. 5000 MacArthur Blvd Free and open to the public
